Team Need For Speed Completes European Drift Tour With A 1st And 2nd Place Finish
STOCKHOLM, Sweden. (September 15, 2011) – The last two weekends have been nothing short of awesome for Team Need for Speed, as drifting legends Fredric Aasbo and Darren McNamara made quite an impact on the European drift scene. Fredric, piloting his Team NFS Japan Auto Supra, and Darren, dropping jaws with the D-Mac86, spent their time off between US Formula Drift rounds to compete in a few prestigious European drift events.
“Having started my career in Ireland and the UK, it was really exciting for me to be able to return and compete against old friends and some new ones,” says Darren. “All the anticipation and pressure of building a new car online and being able to be competitive from the get-go was a real test for the team at MCNSPORT.”
“After I first caught the drifting bug watching Japanese videos, the UK and Irish scene was what really fueled my hunger to start drifting myself,” noted Fredric. “The Prodrift Ireland and various UK competitions and battles have since then been a big inspiration and benchmark for me, and finally being able to get to compete at the very heart of European drifting, has brought it all full circle.”

2011 Clipping Point: Steffen Moy
EverythingDrift: When Did you First Get into Drifting . And how did you meet Fredric.
Steffen Moy: I have always been into drifting, or motorsports overall. About 10 years ago, I used to race a Honda Civic in road racing, and I have been a mechanic for a friend of me that did some rallying. I have always been into cars, mostly RWD, spending so many hours on snowy roads. As drifting became more popular in Norway, I have always been in the scene, ether as a mechanic, judge, etc., but never competed myself. But yeah, once upon a time I helped Fredric tow his drift car, a BMW back to Norway from a drift event in Sweden. We both had the same passion about the sport and I guess it just clicked. The weekend after that he was going to Finland for an event up there, which is a long drive from our hometown. I wanted to help him out, so I joined him. After that we have had so many miles in a van with a trailer and now we are competing in the biggest drift series in the world. I did not expect that 4 – 5 years ago!
