DeNofa takes XDC Charlotte and the Eastern Division Championship
July 8, 2011 (Tustin, Calif.) – In the scorching heat at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chelsea DeNofa and his BMW M3 defeated all comers to take the victory at XDC Charlotte, earning him the win as well as the XDC Eastern Division Championship.
Taking his second win of the season – DeNofa won the XDC Western Division season opener at Irwindale Speedway – DeNofa defeated Texas’ Nate Hamilton, who had his strongest event this year, in the final to take the $3000 check. In the Consolation round, James Evans defeated Jeremy Lowe to take the final spot on the podium. Hamilton was awarded $2000, Evans $1000, and Lowe $500 while top qualifier Dave Briggs also took $500.
After qualifying third, DeNofa defeated Jodin LeJuene in the first round and Dan Savage in the second before defeating Lowe in the semi final. Hamilton, who qualified eighth, beat local driver Doug Van Den Brink in the first round, championship contender Dave Briggs in the second, and James Evans in the semi final to meet DeNofa in the final. After Briggs’ elimination in the round of eight and Hamilton’s defeat of Evans in the semi, DeNofa’s second XDC championship was secure.
DeNofa will now battle for the XDC National Championship at Texas Motor Speedway on September 23-24, where the best drivers from the XDC’s Eastern Division and Western Division will battle for the title of National Champion. The final round of the XDC Western Division will be August 13-14 at Pacific Grand Prix near Seattle, WA.

Drivers List, Prizes, and Guest Judge Unveiled for XDC Hyperfest at Summit Point Raceway
June 15, 2011 (Tustin, Calif.) – The Xtreme Drift Circuit has released the preliminary drivers list for this weekend’s event, the second round of the XDC Eastern Division championship, at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia.
Last year’s event was won by Doug Van Den Brink, who defeated Miro Ovcharik in the final. Chelsea DeNofa, the 2010 XDC Champion, defeated Steve Angerman in the consolation round to take the final spot on the podium. This year, in addition to competing for $9000 in cash prizes, XDC drivers will also be competing for the chance to win a custom guitar from Hyperfest event sponsor PRS Guitars, while NonStopTuning will be providing $100 for the Xtreme Entry Award which will be awarded during qualifying. Enjuku Racing is also kicking off their involvement as a series sponsor of the XDC, beginning with Hyperfest.
Stepping in to replace XDC judge Chris Forsberg, who will be competing at the Formula Drift event at Wall Speedway, will be Mickey Andrade. Andrade has been involved in professional drifting since 2003, and was a founding member of the largest drift team in the United States. Throughout his involvement in drifting, Andrade has worked as a spotter and brings a keen eye for talent to the XDC judges tower.
“We are looking forward to having Mickey on board and excited to see what his eye can bring to the XDC drifting table,” said Brian Eggert, competition director of the Xtreme Drift Circuit.
Qualifying for XDC Hyperfest will be held on Friday from 6:45 PM ET to 8:30 PM ET, with Saturday’s competition beginning at 6:45 PM ET.

Arizona Native George Marstanovic Wins XDC Phoenix
April 26, 2011 (Chandler, Arizona) – George Marstanovic, from Flagstaff, Arizona, defeated Alex Pfeiffer to win the second round of the 2011 Xtreme Drift Circuit national championship at Firebird Raceway near Phoenix Arizona. Marstanovic, driving a V8-powered Mazda RX-7, not only won his first XDC event but also took the top qualifier position.
Jeff Jones defeated Dave Briggs for the final spot on the podium when Briggs’ car suffered a suspension failure. For his victory, Marstanovic took home $3,000 in prize money, plus an additional $500 for taking the top qualifier position. Pfeiffer took home $2,200 – $2,000 for second place and $200 for qualifying third – and Jones earned $1,000 for taking the final spot on the podium.
Briggs’ suspension failure was not the only drama of the weekend. XDC Irwindale winner Chelsea DeNofa encountered problems in his BMW M3 and borrowed Yoshie Shumaya’s Nissan to qualify and compete, while Texas’ Nate Hamilton suffered a blown engine and was unable to qualify at all.
Marstanovic blazed a trail through the top-16, defeating Chris Soehren, Joe Haven, and then Jones to face Pfeiffer in the final. Pfeiffer first defeated Kelvin Arreola, standout rookie Corey Hosford – who in only his first drifting event, qualified sixth and made it to the Great Eight – and then Briggs to meet Marstanovic in the final.
“XDC Arizona was an amazing event,” said Marstanovic afterwards. “Great venue, great fans, and awesome drivers! I’m really excited with what XDC is doing this year, and can’t wait to get to more events and to have some more fun!”
Marstanovic now leads the XDC Western Division Points standings, ahead of Briggs and DeNofa with two of the three rounds completed. XDC’s next event will be the kickoff of the XDC Eastern Division championship, on May 15th at the Central Florida Racing Complex in Orlando, Florida.
The large crowd at XDC Phoenix was treated not only to a competitive top-16 tandem battle, but to the REMIX Car Show and the Power 98.3 Spring Concert featuring Def Jam recording artists Jerimeh and Mann. XDC’s second event in Arizona was an unqualified success and the series looks forward to returning for a third time in 2012. Continue reading
