Round 3 of 2018 HEL Performance Driftcup season saw us return to Rockingham Motor Speedway for the second time this year.
This time the pressure was really on with it being just the one day event, the first time this season that there was no practice day.
We had a few hours in the morning for some practice and time to get the cars set up, which went very well.
By the end of the session I was very confident with the car and the line dialled in.
As quick as practice had started it was over again and we went straight into qualifying, My first run was amazing scoring my 70 points and put me into 12th place.
I felt comfortable and knew that I could go all out on the second run. Unfortunately I made a couple of mistakes leaving my score where it was and allowing me to take 24th spot.
This meant that I was into the Top 32 battles where I would line up against a good friend and great driver, Frazer Jamieson.
Frazer was to lead on the first run and I knew that I had to stay close and work hard if I wanted to win. I gave it everything but he managed to pull a slight gap across the run, it was still very close as we swapped over. It was my turn to lead and Frazer was there from the word go, on my door throughout the chase, knocking me out of the competition. It has to have been one of the best battles from the Top 32 and I am pleased with the result as we both drove well.
I ended up finishing 24th overall, earning more championship points toward my target of a Top 8 finish at the end of the season.
We head to Teesside this weekend where I will be pushing hard to continue toward that goal, thanks again to all of my friends, family, followers and sponsors for their help and support this season, including Zestino Tyres, EverythingDrift.com, Drifther Clothing, Team Frandale, RacingLines, Nispro Performance, EMP Performance, Deep Shine Valeting & EBC Brakes.
