The 2014 Formula D season has been on of great excitement and thrills from the Streets of long Beach to the Banks of Irwindale speedway where two drivers will battle it out for the 2014 Formula D Championship. Fredric Aasboo, considered to be one of the fan favorites in FD is looking to grab his First Formula D Championship while Chris Forsberg looks to further establish his place as one of the elite veterans of the sport by winning his Second Championship. No matter to outcome all in attendance were sure to be given on great show as Irwindale always does.

Formula Drift Wins Within Reach for Scion Racing
Scion Leads Competition for Manufacturers Cup; Driver Fredric Aasbo in Second Place
Long Beach, Calif. October 7, 2014- Formula DRIFT victory is close enough to taste. Scion Racing sits in first place going into the series final round, competing for its first-ever Formula DRIFT manufacturers cup. Leading the teams success is 2014 Hankook tC driver Fredric Aasbo, currently in second place. If Aasbo wins the drivers championship, it would lead to Scion Racings first Formula DRIFT Cup, as well.
The Formula DRIFT series finale will take place Oct. 10-11 at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California. Aasbos most recent win at the Texas Motor Speedway in September continued a lightning hot season, which has included more than one lucky break. Aasbo is a fan favorite, known as the Norwegian Hammer, who puts on an impressive show on the track. At the Texas Motor Speedway, Aasbo and the team went head-to-head with the series leader who hit Aasbos tC, forcing the team to scramble to fix the vehicle before the finals.

Aasbo Brings the Hammer down to Take the Formula D Title Fight to Irwindale
It’s been a long two months wait, but I was thrilled to be back for round six of the Formula Drift Pro Championship at Texas Motor Speedway in Texas.
As usual I had no idea what to expect heading in to the weekend. Even if we see similar drivers fighting for points, you could practically draw straws on who is going to be on the top step of the podium at each event. The drivers seem to be on point. It really bared down to who was going to be able to hit that switch and turn it on and land on that podium. I had a couple wishes going in to this event. Hoping that the championship title would not be determined at round six and for the point’s gap to be closer heading into the last round of the season. Being that I received my two wishes, I’m even crazier in the head now and cannot wait for the Final Fight on October 10-11th at Irwindale Speedway, which of all seven rounds is my favorite.

Long Beach, Calif. September 23, 2014 With only one race left in the 2014 Formula DRIFT season, Ford Motor Company heads to Irwindale Speedway in California looking to finish strong in the season finale there. Vaughn Gittin Jr., in third place, and Justin Pawlak, in seventh, will compete in customized Ford Mustangs Oct. 10-11, in the final fight of the seven-event series.
“Im really pumped to be heading into the final fight of 2014 at Irwindale Speedway, said Gittin Jr. While we are no longer battling for the championship, we plan to hold our ground and take third overall in the series.
This is something Im really excited about, given the challenges we had to overcome this season, he added. The progression of drifting never ceases to amaze me, and this year has been insane with regard to the level of competition. Our Ford Mustang RTR has been fully up to the task and continues to be a performance bar-setting machine, round after round. We are looking forward to fighting hard and ending the season on the top step.
Formula DRIFT Insider Premieres This Sunday, August 3
Long Beach, Calif. July 30, 2014 - Formula DRIFTs popular web-based program, Formula DRIFT Insider, returns this Sunday, August 3 at 10:30 AM (PST) / 1:30 PM (EST). The years show will provide a behind the scenes companion to the live-to-tape NBC Sports Network program. Formula DRIFT Insider will travel with the drivers to their homes, on the road and give an exclusive look from the drivers point of view of what goes on during the live competition.
Fans will be excited to see the premier episode, said Ryan Sage, vice-president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. As it covers the drama and unfinished business between 2013 champion, Michael Essa and the current points leader, Chris Forsberg.
The Formula DRIFT Insider shows will be released coincident with the NBC Sports Network shows to give fans a chance to watch the live action and then head to Dailymotion for the behind the scenes look at what they just watched on NBCSN.

Formula DRIFT Announces Contract Extensions for Venues
Long Beach, Calif. July 17, 2014 – Formula DRIFT presented by GoPro has extended contracts with Road Atlanta and Evergreen Speedway through the 2016 season. The Streets of Long Beach venue partnership will continue in 2015.
The growth of Drift Atlanta over the past 11 years has been phenomenal,” stated Road Atlanta President and General Manager Geoff Lee. “We are pleased to extend our relationship with Formula DRIFT through 2016, and continue to build on the momentum that has made Drift Atlanta one of the largest and most renowned drifting events in North America.”
