Team Falken Looks to Repeat History at ‘The Gauntlet’ as it Goes For Four in a Row
06/15/2011; FONTANA, CA – Having already taken all three wins at the start of this year’s Formula Drift Championship, Team Falken is looking to go four-for-four as it heads to “The Gauntlet” at New Jersey’s Wall Speedway this weekend, June 17-18, where its drivers have previously stood on all three top podiums, something they achieved just two weeks ago at Palm Beach International Raceway.
Team Falken has seized control of the 2011 Formula Drift Championship, and continues to push forward as the season reaches the halfway point. Currently, Justin Pawlak, winner at Long Beach and Palm Beach, driving a Ford Mustang, heads the field of competitors with a 36-point lead over teammate Darren McNamara, with Falken’s Dai Yoshihara, driving the Discount Tire Nissan Silvia S13, in third. Falken’s Tyler McQuarrie is in 6th place and Formula D Defending Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. sits in 10th.
“I think it’s fair to say that all of us at Falken are extremely pleased at how this season has gone so far,” said Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports Marketing and Events. “We continue to support Formula Drift, and recognize how important these victories are in our marketing efforts and among our dealer and retail network.”
“We are extremely confident with our Falken Azenis RT-615K tires,” noted Jonathon Bradford, Falken’s Drift Team Supervisor. “Our tech support is superb, thanks to the contributions of our team engineers. We’ve put together a strong support system and it continues to produce, helping our drivers achieve our collective goal – another championship.”
Wall Speedway, located in Wall Township, NJ, was built 1950, and has become an institution throughout the state. The modified track continues to draw tremendous crowds and will once again provide drift fans with an exciting show on its “inner oval.”
Throughout the two-day event, Falken’s comprehensive Formula Drift marketing program, highlighted by the company’s group of Spokesmodels, will give away special prizes at the team’s display and activation area inside the paddock. Additionally, guests of Falken will enjoy the company’s highly regarded hospitality area.
Qualifying will run from 2:00-4:30 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, with an autograph session to follow from 5:00-6:00 p.m., and the Main Competition begins at 1:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.

Drivers List, Prizes, and Guest Judge Unveiled for XDC Hyperfest at Summit Point Raceway
June 15, 2011 (Tustin, Calif.) – The Xtreme Drift Circuit has released the preliminary drivers list for this weekend’s event, the second round of the XDC Eastern Division championship, at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia.
Last year’s event was won by Doug Van Den Brink, who defeated Miro Ovcharik in the final. Chelsea DeNofa, the 2010 XDC Champion, defeated Steve Angerman in the consolation round to take the final spot on the podium. This year, in addition to competing for $9000 in cash prizes, XDC drivers will also be competing for the chance to win a custom guitar from Hyperfest event sponsor PRS Guitars, while NonStopTuning will be providing $100 for the Xtreme Entry Award which will be awarded during qualifying. Enjuku Racing is also kicking off their involvement as a series sponsor of the XDC, beginning with Hyperfest.
Stepping in to replace XDC judge Chris Forsberg, who will be competing at the Formula Drift event at Wall Speedway, will be Mickey Andrade. Andrade has been involved in professional drifting since 2003, and was a founding member of the largest drift team in the United States. Throughout his involvement in drifting, Andrade has worked as a spotter and brings a keen eye for talent to the XDC judges tower.
“We are looking forward to having Mickey on board and excited to see what his eye can bring to the XDC drifting table,” said Brian Eggert, competition director of the Xtreme Drift Circuit.
Qualifying for XDC Hyperfest will be held on Friday from 6:45 PM ET to 8:30 PM ET, with Saturday’s competition beginning at 6:45 PM ET.
