Drifting Making Its Mark…
Just to prove that drifting has made its mark on the world. Check out the satelite images from space showing El Toro’s landing strips. This was the location of many DriftDay’s and Drift 101 classes. If you have been to the event’s that we’re hosted here, you know where the dift 101 course was, as well as the rest of this course. Enjoy and much props to Drift Day/Drift Association for making its mark, and it shows.
Showoffcafe On Hold…
Whether you have been in the drift scene or the import scene. You know who, or what is showoffcafe and driftshowoff here in Southern California and nation wide. Both of these we’re started by Ken Miyoshi to help push the import scene and make sure it stayed hoping. After running and being noticeable for the past several years, we recently noticed that they we’re not at SEMA discussing the upcoming 2009 year, as well the site was last updated in 2008. We ended up contacting Ken to discuss if the rumors we had heard on the end of this once great venue was in fact true. Continue reading
Rhys Millen’s Hyundai Genesis drift car to debut at Chicago Auto Show
After months of waiting and denials, Hyundai announced today that Rhys Millen would officially unveil his Red Bull-sponsored Hyundai Genesis drift car at the Chicago Auto show this weekend. Along with their press release were several photos, including 1 of Rhys drifting the car at what appears to be Willow Springs. We can’t say that anyone was really surprised after his Super Bowl commercial, but the one thing to note in these photos is that Rhys is now on Toyo tires. With Tanner over on Hankook, it looks like he hooked his former roommate up with his old deal.

Tanner’s Scion tC to be powered by Nascar V8
When we first debuted Tanner’s tC, the powerplant was yet-to-be-named, although we had heard rumors of the NASCAR powerplant. On the Inside Drift podcast last week and this week in an interview with Scion, Foust confirmed the powerplant, stating that they would be moving away from the turbocharged motors he has become accustomed to in drifting and will be using one of Toyota’s NASCAR V8 powerplants. These motors run 358 cubic inches and put out well over 600 horses to the rear wheels in NASCAR form, although drifting doesn’t have the same restrictions that NASCAR places on their cars. As more information is revealed, we’ll bring it to you first!
On a side note, Tanner will be on Hankook tires for the 2009 season. We expect him to be on either the RS-2 Z212, which has been a hugely-innovative tire for Hankook, or the newly-announced RS-3 Z222 tire which was announced at this year’s SEMA show.
Here is the initial rendering which was released back in October – an updated rendering with the Hankook logos hasn’t been distributed as of yet.
