Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge – Event Info and Drivers List

The Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge, which will take place both nights on the eastern end of the race circuit – turns 9, 10 and 11.  Friday’s action will include practice and qualifying runs, while Saturday will see the teams compete for a $25,000 prize purse.

Grand Prix fans that purchase any admission ticket for Friday or Saturday racing activities will be able to see that night’s Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge. Seating for the Super Drift Challenge will be in Grandstands 16, 18, 24, 25 and 26 on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Hankook Tire Driver Fredric Aasbo Brings Home A First Place Win At Formula Drift Round 1, The Streets Of Long Beach

WAYNE, N.J., April 13, 2015 – Hankook Tire driver Fredric Aasbo brought home a first place podium finish this past weekend in Long Beach, California at the opening round of the 2015 Formula Drift season. The first race of the season again saw Hankook Tire as an official sponsor of the series.

Competition was intense from the start of the racing weekend which saw Aasbo qualify in third place on Friday in his Hankook Tire/Rockstar Energy Drink Scion tC, placing him in an ideal position for the following day’s battles.  After making contact with driver Masashi Yokoi early on competition day, Aasbo quickly worked his way through the field meeting up against Aurimas “Odi”Bakchis in the Final.  After a close final battle, Aasbo piloted his tC to a first place podium finish, putting him in the 2015 championship points lead and Hankook in the 2015 Tire Championship number one position. Formula DRIFT 2015 Round 1: Streets of Long Beach Results

Long Beach, Calif. – April 12, 2015 – Formula DRIFT presented by GoPro kicked-off the first event of the 2015 World Championship season with Round 1: Streets of Long Beach to a sold out crowd. Fredric Aasbo in the Rockstar Energy Drink / Hankook Tire Scion tC takes the victory and the lead in the chase for the championship.

Round 1: Streets of Long Beach started off the twelfth season of Formula DRIFT to a sell out crowd. Over 20,000 fans experienced the action and excitement at the Streets of Long Beach Grand Prix Street Course through the weekend. The Dailymotion Livestream partnership saw over 300,000 unique viewers watch the Driftstream over the event weekend.
