Dai Yoshihara Finishes Top 8 for Round 6 of Formula Drift
IRVINE, Calif. –Round 6: “Showdown” of the 2015 Formula Drift Championship returned to Texas Motor Speedway with a new configuration that proved to be competitive and record breaking. Countless “one more time” battles made this round the longest Top 16 qualifying in series history.

Formula DRIFT Round 6: Showdown Results; Rookie Masashi Yokoi is Victorious

Long Beach, Calif. August 23, 2015 Formula DRIFT presented by GoPro returned to Texas Motor Speedway for Round 6: Showdown. Japanese rookie Masashi Yokoi in the D-MAX Nissan S15 earns his first Formula DRIFT victory. The championship will be determined at the Series finale on October 10.
Round 6: Showdown was an action packed event weekend. The new course configuration at Texas Motor Speedway proved to be challenging and highly competitive for the drivers. With only one event remaining in the 2015 season a champion will be crowned at the season finale at Irwindale Speedway.
Texas has some of the most diehard fans as they braved the heat to see the action through the weekend and were rewarded with intense drifting action, said Jim Liaw, President of Formula DRIFT. With only one event remaining, the season will come to climatic conclusion to end a remarkable year. Continue reading

Nostalgic Sunday: 2008 Formula Drift – Singapore: A Fan’s Perspective

I remember the first time I acquainted myself with the art of drifting. It was at a Drift Day event, when drifting was relatively new in America. I remember standing out in the middle of spacious lot that was only occupied by a handful of cars. Normally, one unfamiliar to drifting would find nothing glamorous about the burning-rubber smell and getting debris—mixed with track rubble and tires—all over herself, but once you witness the art itself … I was amazed to see a car even being able to maneuver like that: sliding to one side while swinging the back end of the car from the other side at such a tight angle. Then seeing the process repeated in continuance in different directions and forms. Though it was a setting for amateur and professional drivers alike, I began appreciating the art in isolation, regardless of skill. Continue reading
